Yes, mindfulness is good for everybody including kids! Kids really like mindfulness because of the feelings of relaxation that accompany formal mindfulness practice. There are a lot of useful and effective mindfulness practices that are taught in fun and engaging ways. Kids feel safe to explore and understand feelings, and develop a sense of normalcy with strong emotions that arise. Language and tools are provided to deal with emotions such as anger, frustration, anxiety, envy, and fear. Here kids learn loving kindness meditation, self acceptance practices, and practice paying attention to the present moment. Kids at this camp take a rest from striving and achieving, and learn to just be with themselves in a relaxed friendly way.  Kids learn to direct attention to the positives in life, and develop a optimistic mindset. This camp is based on the Mindful Schools Curriculum and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Therapy (MBSR) program modified for the younger audience.

Teen Mindfulness Workshop

Throughout the year Tanya offers a six week Teen Mindfulness Workshop. Trained in the Mindful schools curriculum program and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Therapy (MBSR) for Teens, Tanya provides a range of mindfulness practices designed to enhance focus and single pointed concentration and relaxation. In this course teens will learn how to work with the “inner critic”, how to mindfully manage stress and anxiety, how to refocus on the present moment, and practice quick calming breathing techniques.  Recordings and workbook are provided along with guided practices to get you started on your daily mindfulness practice.
